DS iPlayer –your all-powerful multimedia player – gameyeeeah.com

| |

The name “iPlayer” means to play movies and musics. iPlayer is a media player card for Nintendo DS users, which is designed with a high-performance decoder chip inside, allowing hardware decoding, will be able to play the main format of videos directly without converting.

After more than one year hard working, iPlayer Team finally complete the product development, considering as a milestone, because of the realization of playing AVI/RMVB on DS directly by iPlayer, which is also the unique one could to do so world-wide. iPlayer is able to play all the main format of videos such as RMVB,RM,AVI,FLV,MPG,WMV on DS, and no converting, allowing you watching movies and listening to music on DS more convenient.

Although files can be placed anywhere on the microSD, the iPlayer currently doesn’t support playlists except from specific directories hence making it impossible to play multiple files in one session from any directory. This may be alright for movies but when it comes to music and short video clips and can continually toggle between the file browser and the multimedia player function.

Skin Installation: Unfortunately at the time of writing this review the only skin available for the iPlayer is the default skin, however based on the folder layout it seems the iPlayer supports 4 different skins and each skin should be installed in a separate folder in the ‘_system\skin’ directory. The skin can then be changed under the System Settings > Skin menu in the firmware.

Music Installation: The recommended installation directory to make full use of the functionality of the iPlayer is placing all music files in a folder called ‘MUSIC’ in the root of the microSD card, all music must be placed in this directory to have it shown in the playlist, sub-directories are not supported and the folder name is case sensitive and if the folder doesn’t exist it is create on first run of the firmware.

Video Installation: As with the installation of music all video files must be placed in a specific directory, every video should be placed in a folder called ‘VIDEO’ at the root of the microSD card (case sensitive) with sub-directories not being supported by the playlist functionality.

Supported multimedia formats:

  • MP3 is a compressed audio format that is popular for downloading across the internet and for use with memory-based audio players.
